This might very well be the most intimate and vulnerable thing I have shared so far: Notes from the conversations I have had with my heart through the years.
This is the first that I would like to share with you on this slow Dutch grey Tuesday morning. Maybe you will find a piece of your own heart in there.
I asked my heart what is here for me to know?
I'm strong, even when you do not feel strong,
I have power, even when you feel defeated.
I can hold you when you do not know how to.
I'm always there for you.
You can breathe into me and find me here.
I'm wise, but I'm not pushy.
You don't have to follow me. Even if you ignore me for a lifetime, I will still be here waiting for you to catch you when you fall.
I will never stop loving you.
Even if you build a wall around me. Get lost on your way. I'm here patiently waiting, loving your way back home.
When you break into pieces I am here patiently waiting,
putting you back together.
But always
better than before
But….
I will never tell you you are wrong.
I will never yell to get your attention.
I will never be upset when you do not listen
I am like the silent person in the room.
When the rooms chatter falls away.
I speak and you listen.
You don't need to understand
the things I tell you.
Because when you decide to listen you will feel the truth of what I say.
And the voices that shout the hardest are just scared.
Scared that their untruth is revealed. by the whispers of the heart
Love these voices as much as you can,
they are not trying to keep your from flying they are trying to keep you safe,
trying to keep you from dying.
Even when there is no danger
of falling they fear still what they do now know.
When they shout do not yell…
Let them kick and scream
and see then they just wanting to be heard and held
and hold it like you would the little you.
