A big topic for me has been regret. And how to free myself from the burden of it.
So in the conversations with my heart I asked what it could tell me about regret…
Dear heart,
What is here for me to know about regret?
Love says give me your sorrow, your pain, your regret, your despair. Let's give them to the earth. Let them be the fertiliser for the soil. Let them be the seeds for new beginnings, not the weeds that prevent you from blossoming. Be thankful for your journey. Every single part of it. Every bump in the road, every dead end, every time you got cut off, for every single person that was part of it and that showed you a part of you. Even the ones that broke your heart.
Be thankful for all your mistakes. They are the ones that led you back to me. It takes great courage to free ourselves from the burdens of our past. It's easier to stay in the pain than to face the pain. It takes great courage to decide we are worthy. Not because of what we do, because of who we are and have always been, worthy of love and goodness.
For many of us, it's easier to believe the voice that tells us otherwise. That's okay. Allow that voice and even invite it in. If the loneliness, the grief, the shame or pain are not allowed to be there, we make the loneliness lonelier, the pain more painful, the grief cut deeper.
Allow it to be felt, seen, spoken to. Then you do not have to tell it to leave. It will go on its own. When it's allowed to be there, it no longer has a need to stay there.
Love says, let there be no endings, only new beginnings.
