Hi friends,
Itβs been a while since I wrote my English reading friends.
So long that Iβm sure life has been happening for all of us in the meantime.
Before I continue: Iβd actually love to hear from you β what has life been handing you over the last few months?
Whether itβs the joyful, the beautiful, or the challenging. Or all of them at the same time. Because often, they do go hand in hand β donβt they?
I come to you with a few poems on resilience.
And when people ask me for a poem as a gift β for themselves or a loved one β
I print them on this beautiful Indian cotton paper made from 100% long-fibred cotton rag. It gives the words an extra layer.
Is there a poem here that youβd like to gift yourself or someone you love?
This month, thatβs my gift to you.
So donβt hesitate β just reply if youβd like to receive one.
Itβs a gift from my heart to yours. By allowing me to gift this you give something to me too!
These poems are not about the loud, heroic kind of resilience β
but the kind that breathes through pain, sits with sorrow, and still finds softness.
A reminder that resilience, like healing, isnβt linear.
It comes in waves, in cycles, in light and shadow.
So let this be a little moonlight on your wounds.
Lots of love,
Manon
π Prologue: before the breaking
Magic
maybe you are trying
to hold yourself together
maybe
you are meant
to fall apart
because
magic
you will build
from the pieces
π The Breaking
There is never only pain.
There is always, also,
the power of overcoming it.
So breathe,
and create space
in your heart
so grief
and sorrow
can rest in it
when their waves
hit the shore
of your soul.
π The Bearing
Bandaid
when in pain
donβt put a bandaid on it
go into the wound
let the blood flow
feel the pain
let it be open
let it be raw
let it bleed
let it hurt
let it be
let it breath
let it soften
let it heal you
donβt put a bandaid on it
π The Turning
Underneath It All
You're not angry β
you're sad.
And your sadness
is hidden beneath your anger.
Feel all the layers.
Because underneath them all β
there is space,
my dear.
Underneath it all,
you will find peace.
Not a peace to chase
or create,
but the peace
thatβs been waiting.
Only first β
you must feel the sadness.
Because the peace you seek
wants you
to feel
the sorrow itβs covering
first.
π The Opening
Let everything
that doesnβt stay
on its own
leave.
Because life will never
let you lose
the things
or people
meant to stay.
π The Softness
Do not harden.
That will only make you smaller.
Instead,
expand
into softness.
Soft souls
do not break.
π The Rising
Well
sometimes it seems
life dug you a well
you could never get out of
until you did
with dust in your bones
and fire in your heart
you understood
it was just there
to make you grow taller
than you thought you were
